Personal Presents Ltd. was established in June 1995 by its directors and co-owners Jennie Matthews and Phil Hertel.

The idea for the business was developed whilst Jennie was on maternity leave. Jennie had worked previously for the Heinz Baby Club, so she knew the popular products and their suppliers, whilst also having a few ideas of her own for new product development.

Whilst the Bounty hospital pack is still the primary method of distribution for our brochure, we have been reaching broader markets through our Website - which now achieves in excess of 300,000 page hits in an average month – both at home and abroad. We have fulfilled orders from Canada to Japan and from Sweden to South Africa.

Periods of employment with both Bounty and Mothercare put Jennie in a good position to take the idea from concept to reality. (Phil’s previous career in media planning has enabled us to grow the business through a variety of other channels.)

At first we employed other companies to handle our orders for us – first in Burton-on-Trent and then in Cardiff - but eventually recognised that we needed to do this for ourselves if we were to deliver a better service to our customers. Consequently we moved our whole operation to Royal Berkshire in August 1998, and more recently to the Pinewood Studios complex in south Buckinghamshire.

We Publish our 32 page brochure twice a year - for Easter and Christmas - and mail those automatically to our customers (unless we are asked not to!) when they’re still "hot off the press".
