A Classic, and the ORIGINAL birth commemorative gift, the Delft Blue birth plate has been available in the UK only through mail-order for more than 50 years.

All the important birth details are expertly hand-painted in a unique Northern European script before glazing and firing in the famous Delft ceramic style in The Netherlands and despatched directly to you by Airmail.

Please note that the Name, Date & Place of birth are all painted in the same inner ring of the plate. We do not place particularly short character limits on the individual information fields, but we ask you to bear the overall amount of personalisation that you provide in mind when completing your order, In rare cases we may have to edit the information slightly.

The plate measures 16cm in diameter and comes complete with a hanging hook.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the high demand and lengthy production schedule for this product, delivery can sometimes take 12 weeks in peak sales & holiday periods. However, normal delivery time is 6-8 weeks, so please feel free to contact us if your plate has not been received after 8 weeks.

This will be the fifth plate purchased for my grandchildren in addition to the plates bought for my daughters (now aged 35 and 34) when they were babies. They are excellent and such a lovely family tradition to pass on.

Both me and my brother have these plates from the 1970's both of which still take pride of place on my mums wall. I now have one for my husband and 3 children proudly displayed on my kitchen wall, really I should claim my original but it seems such a shame to split my mums pair. Truly lovely gift.

I bought my first Delft plate in 1975. In 1982, I married my second husband, a wonderful man, and tentatively requested a special plate, to commemorate her 'adoption'. With a central basket of flowers, her new name and the date of our wedding - it takes pride of place above the plates of her three sisters. I have just ordered for my second granddaughter - more to follow I'm sure. Thank you.

My Mum bought my plate for me when I was born in 1965 via the Heinz baby club. I have since bought one for my son who was born in 2004 and another for my sister in 2008 to celebrate her 40th (my Mum couldn't find them when my sister was born). I first started buying these plates in 1980 when I had my first child. I went on to have another 4 chilldren who all had these beautiful plates put up on their bedroom walls. Unfortunately one got broken during a house move, now I have internet access I am glad to see that I can get a replacement. Just like many others on this page, I made the first order for one of these plates 35 years ago and later for my other daughter. Two years ago I ordered for my grand daughter and all 3 plates are proudly displayed. I am now ordering for my newly born grandson. I have a plate for each of my sons, born 1969,1972 and 1983. They have always hung down in a row with the eldest at the top. Over the years, the bottom plate has been knocked from it's hook many times and bears the gluey scars of many repairs. The middle plate too shows a few chips; however, the top plate is pristine! I feel I owe replacements to the 2 youngest.
